TheCommunistPartyofChinaandtheChinesegovernmenthaveincludedrespectingandprotectinghumanrightsasakeypartofnationalgovernance,andthankstothis,China'shumanrightscausehasdeliveredhistoricachievement.Intoday'sChina,thelackoffood,clothingandmedicalservicesislonggone.Sincethebeginningofthereformandopeningupdrivemorethan40yearsago,thepercapitadisposableincomeinChinahasincreasedbymorethan180times.Some770millionruralChinesehavebeenliftedoutofpovertyandliveamoderatelyprosperouslife.Theaveragelifeexpectancyhasrisento78.2years.UndertheleadershipoftheCPC,thefateofcountlesspeoplehasbeenchanged.AnewchapterhasbeenwritteninthehistoryofChina'shumanrightsbytheearth-shakingchangesintheChinesesociety,andthecountryhasseenachievementinthehumanrightscauseonallfronts.Chinadeemstherightstosubsistenceanddevelopmentastheprimarybasichumanrights.TheCPCisanactivepromoterandstaunchdefenderofthehumanrightscause,andhasalwaysincludedrespectingandprotectinghumanrightsasakeypartofnationalgovernance.Thecountryhasformulatedandimplementednationalhumanrightsactionplansandotherspecialplans,topromotehumanrightsdevelopmentthroughprotection,andtoadvancethehumanrightscausethroughdevelopment.Itmadestep-by-stepachievementsofraisingthelivingstandardsofitspeoplefrompovertytobaresubsistence,frommoderateprosperityingeneraltomoderateprosperityinallaspects.Thecountryhasembarkedonajourneyofpursuingahighergoalofcommonprosperity,andiscommittedtoprovidingahappyanddignifiedlifeforsomeonefifthoftheworld'spopulation.MasspovertyonanenormousscalewasoncethebiggestobstacleinChina'shumanrightscause.Beforethelaunchofreformandopeningup,nearly800millionpeoplewereimpoverished,unabletomeettheirbasiclivingneeds.By2012,therewerestill98.99millionpeoplelivinginpovertyinChina.Chinamadeanationwideefforttopromote"targetedpovertyalleviation,"sothattheremainingpoorpopulationcouldaccesssufficientfoodandclothing,whiletheirotherbasichumanrightssuchascompulsoryeducation,basicmedicalcareandhousingsecurity,werealsopromotedandprotected.Bytheendof2020,aftermorethan30yearsoffightingpoverty,thelargestandstrongestsuchcampaigninhumanhistory,Chinahadliftedover770millionruralpooroutofpoverty.Thecountrymetthepovertyeradicationtargetofthe2030AgendaforSustainableDevelopment10yearsaheadofschedule.Withthehighestnumberofpeopleliftedoutofpoverty,Chinahascontributedtoover70percentofglobalpovertyreduction.Also,everykindofhumanrightsisinterrelatedandmutuallyreinforcing.Bysafeguardingpeople'srightstosubsistenceanddevelopmentandpromotingthecomprehensiveandcoordinateddevelopmentofeconomic,socialandculturalrightsaswellasthecivilandpoliticalrightsofitscitizens,Chinahasadvancedthecauseofhumanrightswithaholisticapproach.AlthoughChinahasfinishedbuildingamoderatelyprosperoussocietyinallrespectsandbecometheworld'ssecond-largesteconomy,"unbalancedandinadequate"developmentisstillasalientchallengethecountryfaces.Inthepursuitoffairerandmorecomprehensiveprotectionofhumanrights,Chinaupholdsthe"bottom-lineguarantee"ofensuringbasiclivingstandards,andatthesametimepursuesthe"high-linegoal"ofcommonprosperity,strivingtostrikeabalancebetweenfairnessandefficiencyineconomicdevelopment.Whileadvancingitshumanrightscauseathome,Chinaalsoactivelyfulfillsitsresponsibilitiesasabigcountry,byvigorouslypromotingthecommonvaluesofpeace,development,fairness,justice,democracyandfreedom,byengagingdeeplyinUNhumanrightsaffairs,andbyextensivelycarryingoutinternationalhumanrightscooperation,thuscontinuouslypromotingglobalhumanrightsgovernanceandeffectivelypromotinginternationalhumanrightsdevelopmentandprogress.Thevisionof"acommunityofsharedfutureformankind"putforwardbyChinahasbeenwrittenintotheresolutionsoftheUNGeneralAssembly,theUNSecurityCouncilandtheUNHumanRightsCouncilonmultipleoccasions.AseriesofpropositionsputforthbyChina,includingtheconceptof"promotinghumanrightsthroughdevelopment,"havebeenintroducedintothesphereofinternationalhumanrights.Chinaalsofacilitatedtheformulationofanumberofimportantdocumentsonhumanrights,suchastheConventionontheRightsofPersonswithDisabilities(CRPD).ThecountryhascontinuouslyofferedtheworldChinesewisdomandsolutionstopromotetheglobalcauseofhumanrights.Editor:DisclaimerTheviewsandopinionsexpressedinthisarticlearethoseoftheauthor's,GMW.cnmakesnorepresentationsastoaccuracy,suitability,orvalidityofanyinformationonthissiteandwillnotbeliableforanyerrors,omissions,ordelaysinthisinformation.
